The Legal Studies course develops knowledge and understanding of the nature and functions of law in our society.

The Society and Culture course develops student awareness and understanding of basic social and cultural patterns of action and behaviour.
The Preliminary Course covers:

  • Intercultural Communication
The HSC Course covers
  • Social and Cultural Continuity and Change
  • Depth Studies - an examination of TWO areas from: Popular Culture; Belief Systems and Ideologies; Social Inclusion and Exclusion; Social Conformity and Nonconformity. 
  • Personal Interest Project (PIP) - a compulsory individual research project

Years 7 - 10

All students study Geography for 1 Semester in Years 7 and 8. 
In Stage 5 (Years 9 and 10) 
  • Australian Geography
  • Australian History
are compulsory subjects. 
In addition, students can choose elective subjects:
  • Elective History
  • Commerce
Each elective line is a 200 hour course i.e. four periods per week for 2 years.


The principle focus in this subject is Aspects of World History, including the contribution of past societies to our understanding of the present, and the nature of significant issues in the modern world.

Topics include:

  • Constructing history
  • Ancient, Medieval and Early modern Societies
  • Thematic Studies


This subject provides the knowledge, skills, understanding and values to allow students to make sound decisions as consumers and managers of their finances. it develops in students an understanding of business, legal and employment issues.
