Our principal and staff
Our school team is committed to every student’s learning, wellbeing and sense of belonging. We work together to create a supportive and inclusive school where every child is set up for success.
Welcome from our principal
Welcome to Maitland Grossmann High School — a vibrant and inclusive community situated in the heart of the Hunter Valley, proudly located on Wonnarua Land. We acknowledge the Wonnarua People as the Traditional Custodians of this Country and pay our deepest respects to Elders past and present, honouring the enduring connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to land, water, and culture.
As Principal, I am honoured to lead a comprehensive school community committed to empowering every student to achieve their personal best. With a long tradition of excellence established since 1884, Maitland Grossmann High School fosters a supportive and dynamic learning environment where academic success, creativity, wellbeing, and community connection thrive.
At the heart of our school is the belief that every student deserves clear, explicit teaching, equitable support, and a safe, respectful learning environment. Our dedicated staff nurture respect, inclusion, and high expectations, encouraging students to take pride in their achievements and contribute positively to their community. We are proud of our commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and families through authentic partnerships, inclusive practices, and cultural programs aligned with the NSW Department of Education’s Aboriginal Education Policy and the Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG.
Our diverse curriculum offers rich academic, vocational, and creative pathways, including innovative programs in STEM, High Potential and Gifted Education, the Arts, and leadership development. We also celebrate the success of every learner through our strong Support Unit, which embodies our dedication to inclusive education.
Maitland Grossmann High School’s School Excellence Plan guides our focus on student growth and attainment, restorative practice, attendance, and pathways. Our data-informed approach ensures tailored support for each student’s unique journey. Wellbeing is central to all we do, supported by a dedicated Wellbeing Team delivering trauma-informed care, attendance mentoring, behaviour interventions, and wellbeing initiatives fostering respectful communication and positive culture.
More than a place of learning, our school is a thriving community strengthened by partnerships with families, local schools, businesses, and cultural organisations. Together, we prepare young people for the future with confidence, character, and compassion.
Thank you for your interest in Maitland Grossmann High School. I invite you to explore our programs, achievements, and community spirit, and to see why our school continues to be a place of tradition, innovation, and opportunity.
