About Mathematics at MGHS
The Mathematics faculty at Maitland Grossmann High School aims to develop student's practical mathematical skills and provide them with the ability to apply logic, solve problems, communicate and make informed decisions. Students are assessed during the year to determine which outcomes they have achieved or are still developing. Students are given feedback from the teacher on their performance on an individual level and grade level.
Mathematics is often a subject that needs to be considered when planning for future careers, particularly those in the areas of science, health and engineering. It is never too early to start planning what level of maths a student needs to be aiming for in Years 11 and 12 so that disappointment can be avoided or contingency plans made if necessary.
It is very important that all students come to Maths lessons prepared for their lessons and ready to work. Students need to bring pens, pencils, calculators (for all students), their 2 Maths books and their textbook. Students are also encouraged to "Bring Their Own Device" charged and ready to go. Geometry sets are also required at various times during the school year and it is important for students to bring their sets at these times.
There is a range of information provided in these pages however, if you have any other questions regarding your child's Mathematics education at Maitland Grossmann High, please contact the school and speak to either your child's classroom teacher or the Head Teacher Mathematics (Ms Zoe Cox).
